Help Pay Truffle’s ICU and Emergency Vet Bills ❤️

I am Rachel, Truffle’s mom and a massage therapist from Rochester NY. I am here today humbly asking for your assistance paying the heavy medical bills for my beloved Truffle, a tiny and beautiful seven-year-old yorkie who unexpectedly declined very rapidly after a mysterious illness or group of illnesses took her from us years too soon. Truffy Puffy aka Fluffy Puffy aka Fluffykins’ was the biggest 2.5 lbs of love the world had ever known.
A gradual decline in Truffle’s health unexpectedly resulted in a 9-day stint in the ICU at Cornell after all of her vitals failed and she nearly died on their exam table during a consult with their internal medicine service.
It was a blessing we were there when it happened. She was given the best possible care as they tried to stabilize her and determine the mysterious cause of her conditions. After running every test short of exploratory surgery (CT scan, ultrasounds, xrays, endless blood work, etc.) the working theory was that she had lympangeictasia, a protein-losing enteropathy, and irritable bowel disease, though the diagnosis could only become official through exploratory surgery and we felt she had been through enough, and we were able to treat her presumptively.
A permanent feeding tube was placed and her prognosis improved as she was able to finally maintain her blood glucose with feedings every 4 hours around the clock.
Despite the best care and all the love in the world, Truffle was sent home last week only to return to Emergency the next day after contracting pneumonia on top of everything else.
Her little body had been through the wringer and she fought as hard as she could, but her ability to maintain blood glucose steadily and then rapidly declined, meaning she could no longer live without an IV.
Truffle died in our arms early on Valentine’s Day morning. We are devastated but grateful that she is no longer in pain.
Your support goes directly towards the bills for her care at Cornell and Emergency Services locally. Every little bit helps and we are thankful for all the love and support given during this time. Thank you.
