My brother, Kris.
A planned op to remove infection from the Aorta in February 2024 to major complications leading to a huge life change, losing both of his legs.
Background •
Kris is 39 years old, he was involved in a road traffic accident in January 2016 whilst working his normal day to day job. His abdomen was crushed by a mechanical part of his lorry. Kris was resuscitated at the scene and was rushed to Plymouth Hospital where he began his journey of fighting for his life for the next 3 months in intensive care. The accident left him with life changing internal injuries at the age of 31 years old ; undergoing 11 major surgeries to save his life. Kris defied all of the odds and survived, leaving him with numerous amounts of lifelong intravenous medication.
London, February 2024 •
Kris was informed he’d have to undergo surgery to remove the infections in the body. The infection had attached itself to the material that was placed within his body in 2016 and the antibiotics were no longer helping him substantially. Kris begun to get unwell and his health started to decline over a few months. He no longer had a choice and agreed to the set date of the operation.
What should have been a serious but planned from A to Z operation quickly turned grave. The highly experienced surgeons faced a much dire situation than expected and had to decide whether to even attempt to operate.
Kris has been to theatre 25 times since that 1st gut wrenching surgery. His aorta has ruptured three times and has had extensive operations to his bowel. His left leg has been amputated above the knee and his right leg has been amputated below the knee. Kris has been fighting and is still fighting in hospital, 8 months so far.
Kris is alive.
He is fighting and is not giving up.
He is our hero.
Why we need your help •
Kris is car mad. His main hobby, his life is cars ; From his very first polo to his obsession of Mazdas and then his new love for his Jag.
He loved to fix the cars, modify them and spend days at the racing tracks with his friends. For over 8 years, Kris has been too unwell to do the things he loves most. The outcome he wanted, was to be infection free and return to his normal life pre accident. However, as you can imagine, his life will significantly change and will need support to get walking again and hopefully back to what he loves doing most, playing with those cars!
Help us raise some money to get Kris to his new normality, back up on legs, helping to modify his cars to promote his independence and smashing life with his Fiance, family & friends!
