Hi, my names Chloe and I’m organising this fundraiser for my brother in law Chris & sister in law Jayne.
They sadly lost their baby boy Finley on 12th April 2026 from sepsis & meningitis.
Jayne went into musgrove with bleeding at 27 weeks pregnant, after a couple days in musgrove she was transferred to Exeter due to having no bed space for her.
Whilst in Exeter hospital, Finley moved to a breach position and Jayne’s waters broke.
3 days after,on 4th April her waters broke, which resulted in needing an emergency c section. Jayne lost a lot of blood and needed transfusions. She didn’t get to hold her baby, as he was having trouble breathing.
Later testing revealed she had an E.Coli infection, which musgrove didn’t pick up on. The e.coli infection had turned to sepsis, which also passed on to baby Finley. Whilst Jayne was trying to fight the infection herself, Finley got rushed to Bristol st Michael’s hospital due to a bleed on his brain, leaving Jayne on her own at Exeter.
Over the coming days, Finley’s brain bleed kept getting worse, also causing severe seizures. They also discovered he had developed meningitis from the infection and severely brain damaged. Jayne was transferred to Bristol to be with him.
After a lot of fighting, Finley passed away in his daddy’s arms on 12th April at 1 week 1 day old surrounded by his mummy and older 2 brothers (Charlie aged 4, Oakley aged 2).
After a very stressful and upsetting couple of weeks, the family are now organising Finley’s funeral.
Although the funeral directors fees and service is free, we are asking for any kind of support in helping pay towards the headstone. If there’s anything left over it will be donated to Cots for tots charity.
As you can imagine, it’s left a huge impact on all of the family members including Finley’s grandparents, uncles and aunts, and his cousins who we’ve had to try and explain it to.
Any amount would be appreciated from Chris & Jayne, Thank you for taking the time to read xx
