On 29th October 2025, my 6 year old Jack Russell was bitten by a French Bulldog in an unprovoked attack.
As it was dark, we are not 100% on what happened, however, a lady with her children approached us at the park. Her dog was on lead and mine and my friends dog were off lead. I have met the lady before and she seems friendly. I did not expect any issues.
I believe my dog, sniffed her dogs behind (as dogs do) and the French bulldog reacted extremely. She pounced on my dog and I didn’t realise it at the time but her dog bit my dogs ear, so severely, that she punctured my dogs artery in his ear, causing him to bleed a lot.
My dog ran and hid in the bushes and refused to come out.
The lady was helpful at the time and we exchanged phone numbers.
The vet’s were brilliant and stayed late, to sedate my dog and give him four stitches. They did not charge me emergency fees for their time. They had to cut away part of the ear to stitch around the artery. They have warned me, his ear may always be droopy and he may have nerve damage. We will find out in a few weeks.
Unfortunately, as my dog was off lead, the lady is refusing to pay the full cost of Toby’s vets bills (£364.70 to date) and so far, I have received no money from her. Her dog was not harmed and has no wounds.
I have reported this and for now I have paid the bill with my credit card.
As money is tight, I am reaching out for what you can afford to help pay off the vet bill and any further vet cost that may occur from this attack.
This is my first Go Fund Me and I hope I have followed all of the rules.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
Steven
