Help Pay SoNYT Intro to Human Rights Tuition
Donation protected
My name is Jeanne Osborne and I'm currently a sophomore in high school, though I'm on track to be a 3 year graduate. I plan to study anthropology, or one of its adjacent fields such as archeology, in college. I fell in love with the field back in 2019 when I took an Intro to Anthropology course thanks to Duke TIP, a program for academically gifted students on behalf of Duke University. My experience at this program eventually led me to apply for similar courses offered by the School of the New York Times. I was blessed enough to be granted a spot in their Intro to Human Rights Studies course taking place in New York City. If I can raise enough money for it, I will be spending 12 days in NYC learning how to report on on-going human rights events, examine the past and how it shaped our current society, and learn of new possible careers in this field. I will also have the opportunity to tour local human/civil rights organizations and landmarks. The course will be hosted at the Fordham University- Lincoln Center Campus and costs $6,420, which is due by May 31st and does not include travel costs. My mom is a widowed mother and is currently our main income source. I am hoping to be able to pay as much as I can privately through our own funds and family, but this will not cover the entire tuition. Any amount will help ease the burden of the tuition on us. Thank you for your kindness.
