Help pay Sandy’s ICU Vet Bill on her 1st Birthday

Donation protected
Today 6/13/23 is Sandy’s first birthday, but she’s spending it in the veterinary ICU. Yesterday Sandy very rapidly became sick, showing signs of vomiting, lethargy, fever, and trouble breathing. Her mom Cheryl rushed her to the emergency vet where Sandy was immediately taken back and admitted to Critical Care. What began as a suspected seizure-induced hyperthermia quickly devolved to severe aspiration pneumonia. Sandy was admitted to the ICU overnight for monitoring of temperature, blood pressure, and blood oxygen levels. Her parents Andy and Cheryl are anxiously waiting to hear if her prognosis (which could go either way last night) has improved. In the meantime, Sandy is under the great care of Blue Pearl Emergency Vet in Southfield.

Sandy came into her parents’ lives the day after Christmas 2022. She was born in Arkansas and brought out to Michigan by a rescue organization. When Andy and Cheryl met Sandy, they knew she was special and had to act fast, so they made the decision to adopt her the same day they met her. She is an incredibly sweet and spunky puppy, keeping everyone on their toes! Sandy loves to go for walks with her mom and dad and snuggling up next to them after a long day of playing.

Sandy has a birthday girl bandana, presents, and balloons waiting for her at home. Let’s help get Sandy home so she can celebrate her birthday and hopefully many more. Estimated costs for Sandy’s care starts at $7200, and could potentially go higher depending on her recovery. Any excess funds will be donated to the rescue organization that brought sweet Sandy girl into all of our lives.

6/13/23 9:00am Update:
Sandy made it through the night. She is being evaluated by the Critical Care Veterinarian, at which point a more detailed diagnosis and prognosis will be provided. Thank you everyone who has already donated! Here's a picture the Emergency Vet sent over this morning of Sandy girl.
