Campaign Goal

To ensure consistent monthly salaries for our dedicated teachers and staff and support the ongoing maintenance of our school.

Umul-Qurah Islamic School, located in the remote village of Samu in Northern Sierra Leone, was established in 2011 to address the urgent need for quality education and spiritual guidance in the community. Initially, the school was merely a modest hut, as seen in our profile picture. Despite countless challenges, the school has grown into a beacon of hope, serving 452 young minds across both primary and secondary levels.

Our campus also includes a mosque and a safe drinking water well, essential resources in this underserved region.

The school operates with a team of 29 devoted teachers and 1 dedicated security guards. However, their salaries are funded entirely through local donations and personal funds, resulting in inconsistent pay, sometimes more, sometimes less, and occasionally none at all. Our mission is to change this by ensuring stable, monthly salaries, enabling our teachers and staff to focus on their primary purpose: inspiring and educating the next generation, particularly the islamic education.

Sierra Leone is a nation of resilience and untapped potential, but its people have faced profound challenges, including a civil war, widespread poverty, and limited access to quality education, particularly in rural areas. Education is a cornerstone of community development and a powerful tool for uplifting individuals and rebuilding societies.

By supporting our teachers, you are not only helping them provide for their families but also investing in Sierra Leone's long term development. These young minds represent the future leaders of their communities and country.

Charity is one of the most rewarding acts, especially when it supports education and empowers others. Allah (S.W.T.) says in the Qur’an:

“Who is it that would loan Allah a goodly loan so He may multiply it for him many times over? And it is Allah who withholds and grants abundance, and to Him you will be returned.” – [Qur’an 2:245]

The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) emphasized the importance of charity, stating:

“Charity does not decrease wealth. Rather, it increases it.” – [Sahih Muslim]

He also said:

“When a person dies, their deeds come to an end except for three: ongoing charity, beneficial knowledge, or a righteous child who prays for them.” – [Sahih Muslim]

Supporting Umul-Qurah Islamic School is a form of Sadaqah Jariyah (ongoing charity), offering you blessings in both this world and the Hereafter. Each donation contributes to securing the education of 452 children and empowers their teachers to guide them effectively.

As a native of Sierra Leone, I have lived through the hardships faced by these communities. During the civil war, I sought refuge in Guinea Conakry before resettling in Australia. Despite starting over in a new country, my heart has remained with Sierra Leone, and I deeply understand the struggles of those in need.

On my visits in 2014 and 2022/23, I engaged in charitable efforts, such as providing food for families and supporting the construction and operation of schools. Together, with your help, we can continue this mission by ensuring the stability of Umul-Qurah Islamic School and, insha’Allah, expanding its reach in the future.
