Hello Friends, Family, and Generous Donors. I’m writing to ask for your help covering the medical bills for my cat Damon who was horribly and unexpectedly shot with a BB gun by an unknown person in our neighborhood on February 17th.

Here’s the full story: I let my cat Damon outside like I always do, in order to let him do his business. I was surprised to find him scratching frantically at my front door moments later. I let him in, and noticed he was visibly shaken, breathing fast and his tail was puffed up.  It wasn’t until I took him to the nearest animal hospital that I found out he'd been shot in his left flank. They said there was trauma to the lung and it had collapsed, and he’ll likely need surgery. They quoted me a cost of $12k to $14k dollars. I needed a moment to process this.


It came to a point where I felt like I had to choose to let my cat die or go $14k in debt. I weaped and I cried for what felt like forever. With the support and comfort of my family at the animal hospital, I finally took a moment to breathe and decided I had to go for it. I knew the risks. If they lost him I still would have to pay for the surgery but I at the least wanted to give my baby a fighting chance.


Damon ended up not needing the surgery. After some minor procedures, his left lung re-expanded back and he stabilized after three days on oxygen. The doctors shared that it was safer to not cut him open and risk more damage done, so the best course was to leave the bullet where it is. 


After three days in the Animal Hospital and care, the bill ended up at $4417. 




THE NITTY GRITTY - What I need to raise.


At the very least, I’m looking to raise just enough to cover half of my bill, that would be such a relief for me. The bill is 4,417.85 (pictures are provided) making half, $2,209.  However, I am currently not working full-time and living off savings, so all support would be gratefully appreciated.
