In April 2022 I developed an infection on the mitral valve of my heart. We tried a few weeks of antibiotics but the infection got worse. My doctors performed open heart surgery in May 2022 to repair the mitral valve and clean out the infection. They replaced the aortic valve because the infection had destroyed it. After the surgery, I had continual internal bleeding which meant more visits to the ER and extended stays at the hospital. By fall I had severe heart failure and shortness of breath due to fluid in my lungs. In April of 2022, the infection spread to my left eye and I lost vision. My eye was treated with steroid injections and antibiotic injections. I'm still getting treatment today. Fall of 2022, the shortness of breath got worse and my doctor performed a procedure to look at my heart and told me the mitral valve was gushing out blood. In a matter of days, my cardiologist got me into a clinical trial in San Francisco. They performed 3 experimental heart surgeries in November 2022 and I crashed on the table. I was put on a heart-lung machine. the 3rd surgery fixed the mitral valve but when I woke up I had no movement in my lower body. Soon after I went to acute rehab for 5 hours of therapy each day. I got to where I could walk with a walker. I am now working with a therapist to walk without a walker but it's a lot of pain and suffering I still have heart failure and I need another experimental heart surgery. I have run up an enormous amount of death making my home accessible to a disabled person, paying for 24/7 caregivers for months, and buying medical equipment and supplies. Any help would be appreciated to help pay off my dept and free up my line of home equity so I can use it for real repairs like a new roof which may be coming up in the future. Thank You for your help.
