Help Pay Hazel's Medical Bills - MCAHS1

This is my granddaughter, Hazel Mae. She is the daughter of my younger daughter, Landrie and her husband, Kade. She just turned six months old on November 12th. Just after her one month pediatric appointment, she starting having seizures. She has had several episodes and has spent at least three short stints in the hospital with doctors running multiple tests and ruling out everything from heart malformations to kinked intestines.
At her four month appointment, the pediatrician noticed that she was missing developmental milestones and didn’t appear to be tracking with her eyes. He immediately sent her to a pediatric ophthalmologist who diagnosed her with cortical blindness. Her eyes and optic nerves are healthy and intact, but her brain isn’t processing the information. Hazel underwent an MRI (with anesthesia) in early October – which came back “within range” meaning there were no obvious signs of trauma, masses/tumors or brain malformations. They are stumped as to what may be causing it. We are hopeful that through therapies that perhaps she will gain some vision. (We do think she sees light and high-contrast videos.)
Landrie has contacted the Foundation for Blind Children, Arizona Early Intervention Program and is working through an advocate to get Hazel the services she needs.
In the meantime, Hazel has amassed nearly $45,000 in medical bills that have not been covered by their insurance. The last $10,000 racked up just this past week. The test that have been ordered are hitting them at $6,000-$10,000 at a time. The first consultation for therapies is almost $1,000 – and there are two of them. They are unsure of the cost of therapy at this time, but it appears that they could accrue up to $1,000/week for services.
Landrie works full-time. Kade is a full-time student at ASU and works part-time. They both also work almost every weekend here at my wedding venue. Landrie also still does princess parties. These two are literally working their tails off for this sweet baby and I think they could use a little help. If you are so inclined to help – we would all be eternally grateful.
If you’re not a GFM fan, Landrie can be Venmo’d to @Landrie-Williams.
