Help pay for Samantha's medical bills
Hi all, if you are here, then you probably already know the story. Samantha got diagnosed with stage 4 cancer on June 17th. We have an uphill battle to fight and are at the very start of our journey. To be honest, I have no idea what the medical bills are going to end up looking like, I'm only starting this GoFundMe because I know how giving Samantha's friends and family are and we wanted an easy and safe way to let them express that. She is a worrier, and even though I've told her that her job is not to worry about work or finances, just about resting and getting better, it still weighs on her. Any help here will help ease that worry some.
Any funds we take in that end up not being used for medical bills or other fees related to her cancer will be paid forward to someone else in our family of friends that are going through a medical journey of their own.
July 20th Update: I want to give an honest picture of what the medical bills look like as I feel like if you are donating money to help cover them, you should get to have some idea of what they are. I think it's also important to help educate those who have not had a major medical incident to show what costs can be to help them prepare. We are getting a better handle on costs. An early worry was that Sacred Heart told us they were not in network for our health insurance, looks like that is not a concern as the insurance is paying most of the hospital bills. Our total out of pocket for this year looks to be about $2,500. This is probably going to span longer than this year, so that number will probably double or triple over the coming years. We also have quite a lot of out of pocket for things not covered by insurance; these items include supplements and alternative cancer treatments such as the Fenbendazole which we've already spent several hundreds of dollars on. I'll add further updates here once we learn more. For more information on how Samantha is doing, please visit her CaringBridge site
