My Dad (Ray Amengual) Had Emergency Brain Surgery

Hello, everyone, my name is Lillian. I’m making this on behalf of my dad and his fiancée, Kristen. On Saturday, December 3rd, my dad suffered a hemorrhagic stroke and had bleeding in his brain. The bleeding caused swelling in his brain causing him to have emergency brain surgery to relieve the pressure and drain as much fluid as they could.

So far, the surgery is doing it’s job and the swelling is under control, but he has a long road ahead. though his speech is mumbled and slurred, he is able to talk.
His left side is not paralyzed but is “neglect” (medical term) and will require lots of rehabilitation once he is a little stronger. He is not able to walk yet, but hopefully he will eventually be able to with physical therapy.

While the emotional burden of this has hit us all very hard, the financial burden ultimately falls on Kristen. They rely heavily on 2 incomes, and though he does have health insurance, it only covers a fraction of the medical expenses, much less the day to day living expenses that we all need.
