Hi, my name is Amanda and Mocha is my Aunt Kathy's dog who went missing Wednesday (4/20/22) night. She was playing with her brother Pongo in the invisible fenced-in yard for a few minutes while Kathy got ready for work. When she went to let them back inside Mocha was gone. Kathy started searching the property and surrounding areas and was soon joined by family members and neighbors who searched late into the night, but she was nowhere to be found. The search continued Thursday and Friday morning till around noontime on Friday two of the fantastic volunteers with CT Dog Gone Recovery Network came by to look and soon found her trapped in one of the swamps that had previously been searched surrounding the property. Our best guess is that she started wandering Wednesday night, got herself lost in the surrounding woods, and attempted to find her way home when she entered the swamp. Unfortunately, a good portion of her body was buried in the muck and she was unresponsive. She was rushed to the vet where they treated her for hypothermia, shock and dehydration. It was soon clear that she would need 24-hour care and attention so she was transported to a local emergency vet hospital who also diagnosed her with severe pneumonia. Mocha is 14 years old so a diagnosis like this is very serious and although the emergency hospital veterinarians are doing everything they can, they are very concerned. She will need to stay at the hospital for an undetermined number of days and there is no guarantee she will make it... But we are praying that she has enough fight left in her to recover and come back home as Kathy and Pongo love and miss her terribly.
Unfortunately, all of the specialized care and emergency services are not cheap... The hospital quoted Kathy $4-$7k. Any funds raised will go directly to her treatment bills. Thank you so much for your support!
