Marvel’s Medical Bills

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Derek and this is my sweet boy Marvel.

Marvel’s Story:

Marvel is a 6-year-old flat-coated retriever who loves to play fetch and cuddle.  While I was in college, I took a McDonald’s trip with a few friends; little did I know I was about to meet my best friend. We stopped at a run-down building that was called “Puppy-Go-Kart.” Yes, the name is exactly what it sounds like – an old, out of service go-kart track connected to a small building with a room full of poor little puppies just waiting to find their forever homes. We walked into a tiny room overflowing with puppies, and that’s when this little energetic ball of joy caught my attention.

His first of many photo shoots:

Marvel won my heart over and came home with me that day. When I got home, I started to realize what I had just done. I basically had a child now, and one with an extreme amount of energy! For a moment I thought it would be too much for me and that I wasn’t ready for such a huge commitment. As time went on, and our bond became stronger, I knew that I made the right choice in taking him home that day.

Marvel has been with me for six years now and they are some of the best memories I have. He has taught me what unconditional love is and has comforted me during the loss of my mom(who loved him like a grandson) last year, eventually becoming an official service pet for me during such a difficult time. He is truly one of the best fur babies around!

Within the last two months Marvel has begun to have seizures. They started off infrequent but have become more prevalent. Recently, Marvel had three seizures within 24 hours and had to go to the emergency veterinarian. If you’ve ever known anyone who has had a seizure or witnessed one yourself, it is beyond difficult to sit there and watch helplessly. Marvel has been spending overnight visits in the ER to be supervised to make sure his seizures can be controlled.  If not, he will have to undergo further testing to rule out cancer and other underlying diseases. The medical bills have just begun but I need to do what I can to get him the best care possible.  I know he would would do the same for me if he could!

This is not our first visit to the vet and unfortunately won’t be our last. Things are starting to add up. Anything you can donate to help pay for my boy’s medical bills is greatly appreciated! I can’t thank you enough for any amount of help while we work to get him better.
