Help pay for Boris Rudolf's emergency surgery

Hi Friends,

Sweet Boris came into our lives just this week; it was love at first lick. We met this happy, affectionate and energetic youngster at Milo Foundation on Wednesday 11/17/21 and brought him home from the shelter Thursday morning.

Less than 8 hours at his new home, and he went from happy-go-lucky to coughing and retching. After a rough first night, with multiple awakenings for diarrhea and nonstop breathing difficulty, we decided he needed emergency care. An X-ray showed that he has Peritoneopericardial diaphragmatic hernia (PPDH), which is a congenital defect.

The only treatment to repair the diaphragmatic hernia is surgery, and it needs to happen immediately.

After many hours at the vet (two vets, actually) and several calls between Milo Foundation and the attending vet to strategize, we decided to go ahead with surgery. Emergency surgery is happening today and Boris will remain at the vet for 2-3 days before we can bring him home to recover.

This is not what we expected when we came home with our first family dog just yesterday! But, it was a no brainer as we'd all become attached to this sweet boy in such a short time (a day and a half!), and we'd gone into this knowing it would be a life-long commitment.

But now we need your help, friends.

This surgery is expensive, very expensive. Between $8,000 - 11,000 expensive. I know. Crazy.

While we certainly knew and expected costs with adding Boris to our lives, we never expected it would be so expensive, and certainly not at the start of our relationship.

We love this little guy and just want him healthy and home with us, where he belongs. After a year in at least 2 shelters and who knows where, he found his forever family. We're not letting him go!

We've already paid the required deposit of over $8,000 on credit, and there might be additional costs.

We'd be most appreciative of any donation you would be willing to spare to help offset this cost. Any donations above costs will be donated back to Milo Foundation to help the next Boris find his or her new family.
