I am writing to you today with a heavy heart and a plea for assistance that could make a world of difference. Our beloved furry friend, Billy, is facing a life-threatening battle against cancer, and we are reaching out to our wonderful community for support in his time of need.
Billy, a loyal and affectionate companion, has brought boundless joy and happiness to our lives. His wagging tail, playful antics, and unconditional love have touched the hearts of everyone who has had the privilege of knowing him. He is the cherished gym dog at Omerta/Ferraro and a loved pillar in the jiu-jitsu community. However, we recently received devastating news – Billy has been diagnosed with cancer and requires immediate surgery to have a fighting chance at survival. His diagnosis, of a malignant mast cell tumour, is sadly only one of the numerous health challenges Billy already faces, including a severe heart condition, an autoimmune disorder and extreme stomach issues.
As you can imagine, the cost of surgery and subsequent treatments is substantial, and it has placed an immense financial burden on Paul, his dedicated owner. Despite his best efforts, the expenses of treatment have surpassed what one person can financially handle. That's where you come in. We have launched a fundraising campaign to gather the necessary funds for Billy's surgery and treatment, giving him the chance to live a happy and healthy life once again. His surgery is currently scheduled for August 30th and the oncology department at Mississauga Oakville Veterinary Emergency Hospital (MOVEH) provided an estimate of $5500 for the surgery.
Background info from Paul (Billy's owner): Billy has a malignant (cancerous) mast cell tumour on his chest - we've done a number of scans and ultrasounds and it doesn't appear to have metastasized yet. The Oncologist is recommending surgery to remove it as it will eventually spread and it appears to be growing. We know for sure it is cancer but they have to remove the mass to "grade" the tumour, so there's no way to know how aggressive it is until they remove it and send it off for a biopsy. I'm also going through MOVEH because of Billy's heart condition (slow heart rate and arrhythmia) and surgery/anesthesia for him carries a higher risk for complications. So, this hospital has specialists that can help give him the best chance to make it through the procedure.
Here's how you can make a difference:
- Donate: No contribution is too small. Your donation will go directly towards covering the medical expenses that will give Billy a second chance at life. Every dollar counts and brings us one step closer to our goal.
- Share: Help us spread the word. Share Billy's story and our fundraising campaign with your friends, family, and social media network. The more people who know about our cause, the greater our chances of success.
- Offer Support: If you're unable to contribute financially, your emotional support means the world. Send positive thoughts, prayers, and words of encouragement to Billy and his owner as they navigate this challenging journey.
We understand that times are tough for many, but if each of us gives a little, we can collectively make a huge impact. Let's rally together as a community and show the strength of our compassion.
Thank you for taking the time to read this message and consider our plea. Your kindness and generosity will forever be remembered, and you'll play a vital role in saving Billy's life.
