Hi everyone, Annabelle is our 8 year old Great Dane who means the absolute world to us. Saturday morning she started acting a bit funny - she was drooling and pooped in the house. We monitored her for a while and she seemed okay. But around 3:30 the drooling was worsening. She tried to throw up with no luck. We have always known about the dangers of bloat especially with big barrel chested dogs, but we never thought he would be devastated by the experience. Very quickly, Annabelle’s stomach started to look slightly off. We couldn’t figure out if we were “seeing things” but we decided to take action and find the nearest vet. Things moved very fast after that. In the car, Annabelle was dry heaving constantly and her stomach quickly distended. We rushed to a vet where they told us she needed to go to the emergency vet instead. It was so chaotic and scary as we knew this was a race against the clock for her life. We called ahead to Emergency Veterinary Group and they took swift action. Their team waited outside for our arrival and promptly rushed Annabelle in where they immediately confirmed it was our fear- bloat (a flipped stomach.) Annabelle was immediately put under and prepped for surgery. We were told to say our goodbyes in case she didn’t make it. Thankfully 2 hours later, she made it out and we are hoping she will make a full recovery. She has been having some trouble with her bladder and her back legs but the vet says we will monitor and it should be okay. There is no amount of money that would keep us from doing all we can to save our baby. I know so many love Annabelle and cherish her like we do. If you have just $5 to spare, it would mean so so much to us. We are so grateful that she is still with us and we are so grateful that she is surrounded by so many people who love her like we do. ❤️
