Kyler’s Road to Recovery
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Amilee and I am making this GoFundMe on behalf of my friends Abby and Bradley McCrory, for their babies Kyler (2) and Kayleigh (1). The following message has been prepared by them.
About a month ago, our daughter was diagnosed with Hydrocephalus. We prepared ourselves for a minor surgery, only missing a week of work. After Kayleigh’s surgery, she made a wonderful bounce back and we headed home to be with our babies. Our son, Kyler had been struggling with what we thought was a stomach bug while we were gone. When we got home, we quickly noticed he was very sick. He was extremely lethargic, barely alert to what was happening around him, wouldn’t walk or stand on his own, had no energy to stay awake. Kyler was passing bloody stools and vomiting. We took him straight to the emergency room where they ran tests and realized his white blood cell count was very high. They started fluids and arranged for him to be sent to Stormont Vail. Around 4am, they came in and informed us our son had E. Coli (Shiga Toxin). They warned us that it could affect his kidneys. Less than 6 hours later, they came in to tell us his kidneys were not functioning well and we were transported to Children’s Mercy in Kansas City. Their kidney specialist ran lots of tests which shows kidney failure. They immediately started preparing to place a Dialysis Catheter and a PICC line, he will start dialysis this evening to clean the toxins from his blood. Kyler’s body went into starvation mode due to losing so many fluids for so long, even his pediatrician thought it was just a virus. He is so tired and looking at a minimum of a two week stay here, if the dialysis works. We are three hours from home and away from our daughter, we can not risk her catching this. Between missing work, having family stay with our daughter and miss work themselves, boarding our dogs, traveling back and forth, the unexpected medical bills and the regular costs of living, expenses are going to get difficult and hefty.
Funds donated will be used for transportation costs, medical bills and the financial loss we will take with dad having to miss work.
