I’m posting today on behalf of my brother in law Kevin and my sister-in-law Christina. Kevin was hospitalized over a year ago with kidney failure, spending several days in the ICU, and has been on dialysis waiting to have a kidney transplant ever since. While trying to navigate initiation of our complex kidney transplant system, he also suffered a stroke due to dialysis being so hard on his body.

The stroke left him unable to work while he was recovering in the hospital (he spent Thanksgiving and Christmas 2024 in the hospital, and came home on New Year's Eve to continue rehab therapy at home). Then early 2025, they were informed by their landlord they would have to move out by the spring as he was selling their rental unit. On top of that, shortly after Kevin returned to his job, he was let go. These two have endured far more than their fair share of hardships in the past 1.5 years, and life has been a daily struggle, both emotionally and financially for them. With Christina working they have been able to keep insurance and get by paycheck to paycheck, but with medical bills piling up they have reached a point where they need some help.

If you know Kevin, you know he’s someone who never complains, never asks for much, and always shows up for others, even when he’s hurting. Now he needs us to show up for him - it would mean so much if everyone could make a contribution towards paying down his medical bills for his 47th Birthday next week!
