Help Pay Coopers Vet Medical Expenses

Donation protected
Hi ! My name is Alecia. My retired mother and father-in-law went away and placed their puppy Cooper in a kennel. While at the kennel their dog was majorly injured due to neglect from this kennel. At this time we are unable to comment or name the kennel for many reasons. I am trying to raise funds to help them pay for the veterinary medical fees already associated with this. The costs are currently $8,836.98 and at this point they have much more to come due to travel back and fourth to the Lower Mainland to see the specialist as well as after care from the surgery, x-rays, radiologist, removal of pins in both legs, etc. The costs just keep accumulating.

Here is their story from them:

“Our little Cooper was 3 months when we got him. He's sweet, smart and an energetic little pup who was learning quickly. At 5 months, he was growing fast, getting strong with lots of energy and a lot of tail chasing. I decided on a dog boarding kennel just outside of Kamloops which I checked out, read the reviews & even went down to check it out. He was too young to go into her cement basement kennels. She offers an option of in-home care at an extra cost which we agreed would be best for him. I had his feeding schedule typed out, his food measured for his daily meals and a few treats. Over half the food came back! What was she feeding him?

I contacted her on our 2nd day out of town. Only then she lets me know that Coopers injured himself. She made it sound like it was not serious, possibly a little sprain. She did not call our vet or get him on pain meds of any kind for the next 10 days! Her comments were "what can a vet do that I can't! They're just going to x-ray him and put him on an inflammatory." Upon our return, we knew he wasn't ok, he could hardly walk. Immediately, we took him to our vet in Kamloops. Both of his back legs were broken with bone fragments at the knees. According to the vets, he would have been in extreme pain the entire time he was at the kennels, which was 10 days.

Our vet immediately consulted with a specialist hospital in Surrey and they confirmed that surgery was required. The surgery on both knees required pins to reattach the broken bones.

So far the Vet bills, x-rays on two occasions, boarding costs at the vet, medications and travel have accumulated and unfortunately much more is yet to come. And the rehab process according to the surgeon will be 10-12 weeks minimum, so either I or my husband has to be in attendance with him to ensure he doesn't reinjure the knees".

They have paid for this all out of their pocket at this point . They are retired, and these expenses have taken a toll financially on them.

I would like to help them out with all these expenses. Anything raised over what the costs are in the end will be donated to a local SPCA.

Anything helps and is appreciated. Shares are also appreciated and will help.

Thank you for your support.
