Help Pay Crew of It's Just Us- Arab Queer Film

“It’s Just Us” is a short queer film about two women who meet in the heart of Beirut and go through a journey of love, lust and fight. Beirut symbolises all of it. The euphoria, the pain, the destruction, the fear and the hope or hopelessness that both women have to venture through. They embody this love - this is how they spark a love revolution. his project is looking to film in 2022 as we have been delayed due to the ongoing economic crises in Lebanon.  We had planned on filming to start the 20th of August for 10 days.  Unfortunately, on the 18th of August, the economic situation led us to make a very difficult decision as we were unable to secure fuel and electricity for the shoot.

This film’s goal is to provide a voice to the unheard marginalized and suppressed. It stands with every Arab queer whose life is a fight for love and acceptance.  We need to appreciate and see the Arab queer community as part of society, people within their own right. In 2020, many of the safe places for this community were devastated due to the Beirut blast on August 4. According to Pew Research polls in 2019, 85% of the Lebanese people interviewed, believed that homosexuality should be rejected in society and only 13% said that homosexuality should be accepted and until today it’s still an ongoing challenge for the LGBTQ+ community to be represented and kept safe.


Your donations will help us pay the crew, cast and venues behind this project, in a struggling economy where people are barely able to support themselves. It will also allow us to support their safe spots, bars, restaurants and gathering locations that are pro-queer. People across industries are facing great hardships, with unemployment rates rising we’ll be able to employ local talent with your help and ensure their wellbeing. This endeavour is supported by I Stand for Women and other partners.

"أنا وياكي" هو فيلم قصير عن امرأتين تلتقيان في قلب بيروت وتخوضان رحلة حب وشهوة وصراع. بيروت ترمز إلى كل ذلك. النشوة والألم والدمار والخوف والأمل واليأس الذي كان على الامرأتين أن تغامر بها. انها تجسدان هذا الحب، وتشعلان ثورة في الحب. 


هدف هذا الفيلم هو اعطاء صوت لغير المسموعين والمهمشين والمقموعين في مجتمع الميم. فهو يقف مع كل مثلي عربي يعيش في صراع من أجل الحب والقبول. نحن بحاجة إلى أن نقدر ونرى مجتمع الميم العربي كجزء اساسي من المجتمع، كأشخاص لهم حقوقهم الخاصة. في عام ٢٠٢٠ ، دُمّرت العديد من الأماكن الآمنة لهذا المجتمع بسبب انفجار مرفأ بيروت الكارثي في ٤ آب / أغسطس. وفقًا لاستطلاعات مركز بيو للأبحاث في عام ٢٠١٩، يعتقد ٨٥٪ من اللبنانيين الذين تمت مقابلتهم أنه يجب رفض المثلية الجنسية في المجتمع، بينما ١٣٪؜ فقط قالوا إنه يجب قبول المثلية الجنسية. وحتى اليوم، لا يزال يمثل تحديًا مستمرًا لمجتمع الميم ليتم تمثيله بشكل صحيح والحفاظ عليه.
