Help pay Astons vet bill
Hi everyone, I normally wouldn’t do this but I would do anything to help my horse get through this battle. He is my child and means the world to me. I have tried to be hard working & still in school trying to make the best money I can for situations like this to happen, but we can only predict so much. Anything helps ♥️
Aston is a fun loving, goofy horse who loves to be loved & it’s so sad seeing him the way he is & I know he can pull through this.
It has been a world win of events these last couple of weeks, he had sutures put in his knee for a cut that happened on chicken wire fencing& he just got those sutures out last wednesday.Yesterday was a normal day & I finally got to ride him after his couple weeks off until the sutures came out. He was so happy & excited to be out & about & getting some exercise in.
This morning when I went to feed lunch something wasn’t right. He didnt eat his breakfast & his water buckets were knocked off the wall & he had two large cuts on his leg. I took his temperature & all was normal in that aspect but he still just wasnt right, he wasnt colicing so I couldnt figure out what was wrong. I got him to the vets office closest to me & they did an ultrasound & found out he had blood all in his abdomen. His heart rate was 99 when its supposed to be in the 30’s & his blood protein was 8.8 when its supposed to be 2/3. The vet there said I should rush him to UF large animal hospital. Hes there now hooked up to iv fluids, antibiotics & a medication to help make his blood clot. They dont see anything abnormal with any of his organs and they cant tell where the bleeding is coming from.
I got a phone call later in the afternoon with the vet telling me his heart rate has gone down into the 60’s & he is stable & his blood is clotting just slowly. They’re having to do a blood transfusion & i’m lucky enough to have a horse on their property with the same blood type as Aston.
This issue they have said can be caused from some sort of trauma, stress or just because he is(kinda) & older horse (10 years old) which isnt that old, but it really isnt very common.
I’m praying for good news tomorrow morning as the transfusion will be going on all night.
Thank you for donating anything you can, we both appreciate it so so much.
