Help pay a huge deductible by buying a print .

Hi, My name is Shawn Thornton. I am an artist living in Philadelphia. I am also an avid jogger. After turning 45 last spring I began to seriously consider how long I should keep jogging around the neighborhood because the risks for sustaining an injury seemed inevitable the older I got. I thought maybe I should just go to the gym again and run on the elyptical and keep up with my yoga practice.

So, it was a typical weekday morning last week when I decided to go jogging before work, when I tripped on a perilous patch of sidewalk in West Philly, smashing my chin straight on the concrete, braking my jaw and cracking a molar.

I had surgery last night where they put two permanent titanium plates in my mouth to seal the fractures. Before surgery, when I was filling out all the paperwork, I was told I needed to pay a deductible. The lady at the desk wouldn't tell me what it was. She just had this look on her face and turned her computer screen around as I let out an audible gasp. It was extremely high. At first I thought I was going to have to pay that much up front or they'd refuse to operate on me. Luckily I just needed to pay a very responsible amount for them to proceed. I currently have the lowest tier health care plan Independent Blue Cross offers. So that's why it was so high.

Anyway, I truly don't want to ask for donations. If you would like to chip in like $10 or $20 that'd be much appreciated! But I'd rather you take petty on me and buy a print. You can see what I have available https://shawnthorntonpainting.com. All proceeds from now on will go towards paying down this huge debt. Besides this is kind of the first year in about five years where my print sales have really slowed down to pretty much nothing. It would be abundantly helpful to my very being to sell art again.

My idea is, if you're buying a print, donate the cost of the print on here; $75, $125, $200, $225, $300, along with including the shorthand title of the print in a message. Then email me your address and a message through my website, or simply through gofundme if there's a way to do that. I can verify that you bought a print by you sending me a screenshot of your GoFundMe receipt in the amount of the print. Does that all make sense? Or you could just buy a print directly off of my website. I hope this doesn't get me in trouble with gofundme. Thank you!
