Hey everyone!
So as most of you know, Pax has been in the hospital for a week now, battling a very serious infection in her leg that stems from a puncture wound. That injury has caused her leg to turn septic. They’ve done one surgery so far to clean out as much of the infection as they could and placed drains that sit outside of the knee to remove the excess fluid. Luckily, the infection didn’t reach the bone, meaning they were able to save her from losing her leg (which was a huge possibility before they performed the surgery). She has a long road ahead with hospital visits, physical therapy, and relearning how to walk after her muscles are strong enough. The doctors are hoping she can do this in the next 5-7 weeks. They inserted a pic line today to make it where she can have antibiotics administered directly to her artery at home, which she will be getting every day for the next 2 months. She has to be on around the clock medication. If this infection had spread more before they caught it - it would have been fatal.
This will be a long recovery for her but we are trying to stay positive and see the best of the situation. After much healing, she will be able to get back to chasing her daughter Alayna (6 years) around, and get back to work- both which she misses dearly. Not to mention her precious animals at home, who we know miss her too! Paxton takes care of all of Memphis on the weekends working at Tin Roof downtown, so
if anyone would like to take care of her and donate to medical bills/life expenses while she is in recovery, it is greatly appreciated! She has no health insurance so there will be lots of bumps during this process. She has felt so much love and support from all the kind words everyone has sent her and we truly appreciate all of you! Please share:)
Photos of her recovery are in the comments.
We aren’t sure of the exact amount for the hospital bills just yet, but once we know we will update this account!
