Help Paxton Get Back To Her Patients

Hello! This fundraiser is organized by Paxton’s close friends. We truly appreciate you taking a moment to read our dear friend’s story. Paxton is a beloved friend to many, a nurse, a dog mom, and most importantly, a resilient human being.

On January 1st, 2022, Paxton began to experience symptoms that she thought could be attributed to a typical stomach bug. Over the course of a few days, her symptoms continually progressed and she checked herself into the emergency room. Paxton received news that changed her life as she knew it. The physician informed Paxton that her CT scan showed multiple masses on her liver. At this point, she was admitted to the hospital on January 7th, 2022 for further treatment and testing to rule out cancer. She was then referred and traveled to Piedmont Hospital on March 3rd, 2022 to have her first surgery, which was to remove part of her liver. Since then, Paxton has consistently been back and forth to appointments with multiple specialists to ensure positive progression. During that time, she began having issues with abdominal pain and swelling. On March 3, 2023, Paxton was notified that they found a large hernia (obtaining fat, small, and large intestine) that has caused gastroparesis/delayed gastric emptying.

Paxton is set to have another operation the third week of November 2023 at Piedmont Hospital. This operation will facilitate the repair of the abdominal hernia as well as mesh implantation.

From the onset of Paxton’s symptoms she did have insurance, but unfortunately during the time since, different insurances have given a lot of push back on approving medical scans and procedures.

Throughout all of this, Paxton continues to work full time as an emergency department nurse dedicating her time to caring for others.

Any money donated will be directly utilized to cover Paxton’s medical expenses which include the direct cost of her surgery, transportation to the surgery, lodging, medical bills and appointments, and expenses related to time lost from work.
