Help Pavle attend Jacobs School of Music

Donation protected
My name is Pavle Gavrilović, and I’m a composer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist from Belgrade, Serbia.
After years of dedication, I’ve been admitted to the Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) program in Composition at the Jacobs School of Music, Indiana University - one of the most prestigious music schools in the world.
This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to grow as a composer and educator. The DMA is not just a degree - it’s a path to a future I’ve dreamed of for years. But I’m facing serious financial problems.
Despite being awarded a Graduate Tuition Award of $22,339 from IU, the total tuition cost for an international student is over $45,000. That means I need to raise approximately $23,000 to cover the remaining tuition and mandatory fees.
Unlike U.S. citizens, I am not eligible for federal loans or need-based aid. And coming from Serbia, where the average salary is less than $1,000/month, my family simply cannot bridge this gap.
Why This Means So Much
As someone from a country where pursuing a life in music is difficult and often discouraged, this admission is more than an academic achievement - it’s a validation of my artistic voice. My music has been performed across Europe, the U.S., and Asia, and my goal is to create art that connects cultures and people. Studying in the U.S. has already transformed my life once during my master’s at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and I’m ready to take the next step.
I’ve already tried every route: two scholarship appeals, faculty outreach, and external grants. Now, I’m turning to my broader community - friends, fellow musicians, and anyone who believes in the power of music.
What Your Support Will Cover
Every donation will go directly toward covering the tuition that remains after my scholarship. I am not asking for living expenses or travel support—I will be supporting myself as much as possible through side work and any additional aid I can secure.
• Remaining tuition and mandatory fees not covered by my scholarship
• No funds will be used for housing, food, or personal expenses

How You Can Help
If you believe in supporting the arts, education, or international students trying to build something meaningful - please consider helping me bridge this final financial gap.
Even the smallest contribution helps more than you can imagine. And if you can’t donate, sharing this campaign with others is just as valuable.

All donations will go to Edward Virtgaym’s bank account. After receiving donations, Edward will transfer the funds directly to IU Jacobs. Edward is my friend from school, who is a U.S. citizen and has a Social Security number. Since I am not a U.S. citizen and do not have a Social Security number, my donations need to be transferred this way, as I am from a country where GoFundMe is not available.

Thank you so much for your support - whether it's financial or simply helping me spread the word.

Best,
Pavle
