When we met in 1997, he always had my back; now, I want to have his. He is the most generous, good-hearted, loving man anyone could know. Everyone that knows him loves his sense of humor and outgoing and easy-going nature. He stands up for what he believes and never leaves things unsaid, and he, above all wants to help people. His endearing and ever-present candor has given him more friends than I can keep up with. Honestly, to know Paul is to love Paul. The news of his bile duct carcinoma diagnosis came out of left field, and we never in a million years would have thought something this terrifying could happen to our family. Cholangiocarcinoma is a very rare and aggressive form of cancer that forms in the bile ducts. He had been dealing with a couple of medical issues since last fall, and by being sent to various doctors since that time, it was found that his liver has a large mass. The uncertainty of things is the worst part. The incredible outpouring of support from family and friends in just one week's time has been so moving. Unfortunately, for Paul to get the best possible care required us to change insurances to one that is extremely expensive. Given that we are both currently out of work, we are afraid of the financial impact this will have on our family and us. Anyone who has gone through this knows the cost. Both financially and emotionally. The last thing you want to do when dealing with a cancer diagnosis and treatment is worry about the cost. We are kindly asking if there is anything you might be able to give to help save my best friend, my everything, my "Bouby"...We have come full circle as a couple and family over the last 3 years, and all Paul wants is to be there to watch our 9-year-old son grow up and for us to grow old together. We will do anything necessary, including possible new therapies, to get Paul the best treatment possible, but it comes at a cost. Any donations will go to this purpose.
