Paulo is a 12 year old boy who suffers from Hereditary Multiple Osteochondromas
https://ghr.nlm.nih.gov/condition/hereditary-multiple-osteochondromas . He lives in a small village in Tanzania (East Africa) in a town called Nzega, TZ. The nearest city is Mwanza which is 230 km away. The diagnosis has not been confirmed since he has never been evaluated by a doctor. He will have to travel to Dar es Salaam to be seen at the Muhimbili Orthopaedic Institute (MOI)
https://www.moi.ac.tz/ for treatment and evaluation. Based on the information I have received from his local priest, Father Kenneth Maina, there is no way his family can afford to travel to Dar es Salaam on their own. Paulo lives with his dad, sister, nephews and nieces in a small grass thatched house. They have a makeshift bathroom under a tree. When Father Ken contacted me, Paulo's father was having to carry him on his back to and from school. Paulo is functionally paralyzed below the waist. I have already bought him a bicycle that he will use to transport Paulo to and from school, fetch water from the river and run other errands. I am appealing to all willing donors to send funds so we can build a wheel chair accessible house for Paulo and his family with a solar panel, drill a borehole, and send him to Dar es Salaam ( 900 km away ) to be seen by a specialist so he can start receiving the appropriate evaluation & treatment. In the meantime I will donate some money to Paulo's family through Father Ken so that they can build a permanent toilet and bathroom, and get Paolo a wheelchair. My names are Walter Egunza MSN, RN, CCRN, B.Com ( Accounting). I am a Neuroscience nurse at the University of Washington, Seattle. I am amazed at how joyful Paulo appears in all the pictures and he sent me a heartfelt appreciation message for the bike I got him. Now lets make a big difference in the life of this humble, young boy. Thank you in advance for your urgently needed assistance. Father Ken and myself will make sure all the funds are used appropriately and will post updates here.
