Hello My name is Paulina and a lot of you know I have been struggling with an ulcer for over a year now which is located on the scar from a previous surgery.I am needing a surgery revision to help with healing. I was hospitalized beginning of May 2024 due to an upper GI bleed where I was give three units of blood to keep me alive. I was in the hospital for 5 days with no PTO and no health insurance due to being an hairstylist. Today I had a procedure for a follow up endoscopy to check my stomach. When they went in today they found that I had been actively bleeding within the past 48 hours at some point. My surgeon cauterized my ulcer to stop the bleeding but informed me that I would need to have urgent surgery to revise and repair. He would go in cut out the ulcer and repair my stomach. If this is not done it will not heal on its own as I have peptic ulcers. Worst case but very real scenario if I do not have my procedure sooner rather then later is that I will be hospitalized for a second GI tract bleed or my stomach could perforate meaning I get a hole in the wall of my stomach and then it becomes a life or death medical emergency. As most of you know I have a 4 year old son. This past Hospitalization has been very rough on all of us not only mentally and physically but financially. From having to put food on the table to making sure bills where paided and then getting my hospital bill stay it’s a lot for anyone.

I’m not one to ask for help trust me my family can tell you I’m pretty good about doing everything on my own since I’ve been on my own since I was 18. But the one thing I am struggling with is no health insurance and no paided time off. Even if I can manage to raise apart of this to pay the anesthesia, doctor fee and a portion of the hospital fee then I can set up a payment plan for the rest of the required amount. I also won’t be able to work for a month if not a little longer and that means bills will be unpaided and get behind. I have a little bit of money in savings but nothing to cover a medical situation like this.Again I appreciate everything you guys have done to reach out and support me and my family in this time of struggle. I understand that we are all struggling at this time but I appreciate the help!
