The last six months have been some of the most challenging of my life. As a single parent of four, with my youngest daughters Claire (19) and Selena (18) still living at home, I’ve faced one setback after another. In late April, my car was destroyed in a fire, and just two weeks later, I suffered a widow maker’s heart attack. I spent 11 days in the hospital recovering from triple bypass surgery, only to return home just in time for my daughter’s high school graduation. Not long after, I faced more complications—one of my heart valves closed, requiring two stents, and my sternum wouldn’t heal, forcing me into ongoing wound care. Because I couldn’t drive, Claire and Selena became my lifeline, taking me to wound care and doctor appointments, and helping with daily needs.

My income is limited to social security, which barely covers rent and utilities. My daughters work hard, but their wages aren’t enough to help with the mounting medical bills. Right now, my biggest concern is paying for wound care and hospital bills, as well as the costs of starting cardiac rehab three times a week. The stress of these expenses has been overwhelming, and it’s made focusing on my recovery even harder. Getting help with these bills would relieve a huge burden, allow me to focus on healing, and bring much-needed stability back to our family.

Before all of this, I worked as a nanny and was deeply involved in children’s ministry—work that brought me so much joy. My hope is to recover enough to return to serving children and my community.
