On October 25th, 2025, our family’s world changed in an instant. My mom, Paula Gaffney, suffered a major stroke that has left her with significant neurological deficits — including right-sided weakness and difficulty with speech. She is currently in acute stroke care, beginning what will be a long and uncertain road to recovery.

In the coming weeks and months, Paula will require intensive physical, occupational, and speech therapy. As doctors work to stabilize her, it’s becoming clear that her journey won’t end when she leaves the hospital — she may need ongoing rehabilitation and long-term care depending on how much function she’s able to regain.

Anyone who knows Paula knows the kind of person she is — selfless, kind, and always putting others first. She’s the type to drop everything to help a friend, a neighbor, or even a stranger in need. She’s the first to give, and now, for the first time, she needs help from others.

We are creating this GoFundMe to help cover Paula’s ongoing medical expenses, including hospital bills, rehabilitation costs, and the care she’ll need to regain as much independence as possible. Every donation, no matter the size, will go directly toward her recovery and support.
