My name is Ryan Southern and I am deeply concerned about my beloved mother, Paula Southern. I’d like to ask for your support in helping her start over at 76 years old after learning she’ll have to sell her home, and will receive little profit from it.
Despite always working and having multiple streams of income, I’ve recently learned she’s made some unfortunate financial decisions that jeopardize ownership of this home. The house has been in our family since the 1950s and was inherited by her and her sister in 1983. It holds decades of memories and is a symbol of our family’s resilience and love. Yet, all of this is in jeopardy because she made a bad reverse mortgage deal with a bank a few years back, and has been naive about other financial dealings which have depleted her earnings and ruined her credit. I don’t blame her for this, as her age and health issues (including memory loss) have diminished her awareness. I just wish I knew sooner.
I have looked into her finances and contacted brokers, but it appears the damage is already done. The only option to salvage what’s left of this inheritance is to sell the home before the bank owns everything. It hurts me deeply that we’ve reached this point. Seeing her teary eyes when she learned of this will never leave my mind. What’s equally hurtful is knowing she doesn’t deserve this—after working hard for many years, being a steward of the community (Vice President of the Neighborhood City Council), and being the most selfless person I have ever known. As our family faces the challenge of helping her rebuild her life at 76 years old, we’re asking for your support in helping her find some financial stability to move forward with. Prayers are deeply appreciated as well. Thank you.
