On December 2nd, my granddaughter Paula, her husband Jakob, and their 16-month-old son Emery experienced a tragedy that changed their lives forever. A fire broke out in their apartment, forcing them to jump from a second-story window to escape the flames. Baby Emery, thankfully, only suffered a few small scratches, but Paula was admitted to the hospital with a fracture near her hip and a possible spine injury. We are still waiting on results. Jakob endured severe burns to his right arm and shoulder blade, burns to his ears and nose, and broke his ankle in three places. He faces a long and painful recovery in the months ahead.
This young family lost everything in the fire, including their home, belongings, and even the keys to their car, which melted in the heat. With Christmas just around the corner, they are completely devastated. The coming months will be incredibly challenging as they work to replace identification, car keys, medicine, clothing, hygiene items, and find shelter. They will need support for medical care, pain management, and the basic necessities of daily life.
Any help, regardless of the amount, is a blessing and will be deeply appreciated. Please put yourself in their shoes and consider supporting this family with kindness, love, and grace as they begin the long journey to recovery. Thank you to everyone who stops by, and may God bless you for your compassion and generosity. One single dollar can make a difference .
