My name is Aimee Lesley Sim and I am 25 years old. I am creating this GoFundMe on behalf of my father, Paul Sim (67) who was diagnosed with multiple cancers on the kidney, liver and lymph nodes.
The purpose of this crowd funding is for us to collectively earn money to help pay for any medical bills, chemo/radiotherapy treatment and fuel for hospital visits/check ups that my father will need this upcoming year.
Recommended treatment
We discovered this in Jan 2020, so we are still investigating this situation and what would be the best course of action. Paul is being advised by his Doctors to be urgently referred to an oncologist for chemotherapy or radiotherapy. Due to the nature of the cancer, he has been advised against surgery and are weighing up other options. Doctors at Cardiff Hospital believe that it is too dangerous to operate on the liver due to the fear of Paul having Liver failure during or after surgery.
Why we need money
To put it plainly; time-is-of-the-essence. The reason for us reaching out for help is to ensure the best results and the highest chances for our father’s recovery and extended life.
The National Health Service (NHS) has provided Paul and his family the support and health care that we have needed. We all applaud the doctors, nurses and all staff who work for the NHS who have dedicated their lives for looking after their fellow human. However, while our general NHS service is completely free for us it is also possible to acquire private health care, which must be paid for.
The diagnosis has been done via the NHS system, but (understandably) it has taken them 10 months to give a diagnosis. Although free, it is slower than going privately. We have spent so much time to get to this diagnosis, that we feel that it is imperative that we get a treatment plan to aid his recovery time.
To do this, we are relying on the generosity of family, friends, acquaintances and the hearts of the general public. Please, if you can the saying is true; “every little helps”.
