I am raising funds to help my brother, Paul, whom many of you know, keep up with his bills while he is with his youngest daughter Joanna , who is in hospice care now.
Joanna , 20 years old now, was diagnosed with a rare cancer, Ewings Sarcoma, back in 2023. She fought her first round bravely and fiercely. She underwent a mega dose of chemo, followed by a massive surgery to remove the original tumors from her spine in 2024. After that, for good measure, she also was treated with radiation therapy. All was seemingly going well towards the end of 2024. However, her cancer recently came out of remission. And this time it came back with a vengeance like no other, with some tumors growing so fast that they broke some of her bones in the process. On top of causing her tremendous pain, the progression has simply been too fast for her continue her fierce battle. Today she is in hospice care at Westside Regional for pain management. But she will be going home soon to be with her beloved dogs, which is all she is requesting at this time.
This is any parent's worst nightmare. These are things that are not supposed to happen to children. There are no words to describe the sadness this has brought us all, but especially to her mom and dad. As you can imagine, my brother is missing many days of work and falling behind on his financial duties as a father and husband. The last thing he needs is any financial burden while he grieves his "Baby Jo." Though parents aren't supposed to have 'favorites', I'm just going to come out and say that my brother's favorite was always Baby Jo. Her quiet demeanor, genuine smile , sweet personality, and the fact she loves all dogs above any human did indeed grab my brother's heart and never let it go. Please help this man to be able to properly grieve his daughter. Anything at all helps.
