Help Paul Savage Get a Life-Saving Lung Transplant
Donation protected
Dear Family and Friends,
In November 2024, Paul Savage was diagnosed with Interstitial Lung Disease. For the past 10 years, he had been living the retirement dream aboard his boat in Coronado Bay, San Diego. Unfortunately, he started experiencing shortness of breath and other symptoms related to lung disease.
In November, Paul flew to San Francisco to visit me, and we took him to the UCSF ER, where he was diagnosed with Interstitial Lung Disease. He now lives with me, my husband, my mom, and our service dog, Napoleon II, in the Outer Richmond area of San Francisco. He is currently receiving treatment at UCSF, but sadly, his condition is progressing rapidly.
Unfortunately, UCSF has an age cutoff for certain treatments, so we are now working to find another hospital that can evaluate him and get him on the transplant list as soon as possible. We are hopeful that UCLA Lung Transplant, Cedars-Sinai Lung Transplant Center, Keck of USC, Temple University in Philadelphia, or Cleveland Clinic will be able to see him for an evaluation and pre-transplant soon.
Once a hospital accepts him for the transplant process, Paul will need to live within a couple of hours of that hospital. After the transplant, he will need to stay near the hospital for 6-9 weeks for follow-up care. During this time, he will need help with accommodation (hotel/VRBO) and food. Additionally, we will need a friend or family member to stay with him for 6-9 weeks post-transplant, taking him to hospital appointments twice a week.
As many of you know, Paul is a beacon of positivity, joy, and fun. We absolutely love having him live with us here in San Francisco. He enjoys daily walks in Golden Gate Park and is making the most of his time with us.
Please join us in praying that a hospital accepts him into their lung transplant program soon. Your positive energy and support mean the world to him. Feel free to call Paul and share your uplifting thoughts.
