If you’ve known me for any amount of time, you’ve probably heard me talk about my soul dog, Paul.

Three weeks ago, Paul injured his knee while doing what he loves most—chasing a ball. One second, he was happy and running, and the next, everything changed. Since then, he hasn’t been able to use his back leg, and it’s been heartbreaking to watch.

Paul is the most easygoing, gentle dog. He’s patient with kids, puppies, and just about everyone he meets. He’s the kind of dog who will lay down in a busy park or public space and just quietly enjoy being there, taking everything in. His name fits him perfectly. He just loves life, and he’s happiest when he’s running with a ball in his mouth. And honestly, even more than that, he loves swimming. Just saying the word gets him excited.

This is the dog who has been by my side through everything for the last 8 years. The one who gets me outside on hard days, who never misses a chance to make me laugh, and who just wants to be near me no matter what we’re doing. Seeing him now unable to run, play, swim, or even go on our normal walks and hikes has been incredibly hard.

Our vet believes he has a cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) tear (similar to an ACL tear in humans), and the recommended treatment is a TPLO surgery to stabilize his knee so he can get back to being himself again—running, swimming, playing, and carrying his ball like he always has.

Unfortunately, the surgery is expensive and not something I can afford on my own right now. So I’m asking for help. If you’re able to donate or even just share this, it would mean more than I can put into words.

Paul is the most loving, gentle, and loyal dog, and he deserves the chance to enjoy the life he loves so much.
