Hi, my name is Skye and I am wanting to raise funds to help my Homie.
Let me share some information-
Paul has been fighting stage 4 GIST Cancer for over four years.
Due to the effects of the cancer and treatment Paul has not been able to work for over 2 years.
Paul has primarily been treated by targeted thearpy’s to control the cancer, currently the medication available is Stivarga/Regorafenib. This drug is approved for use in Australia and other countries but is not covered by the Australian Pharmaceutical Scheme.
For this one medication Paul currently pays $4231.00 dollars per month.
The next line of treatments become more expensive. I addition to the $4231.00 dollars per month Paul pays for the 1 cancer drug there are numbers other medications required in the vicinity of $800 to $1000 a month to assist the side effects of the cancer and treatment.
Paul currently has out of pocket expenses for his recent stay in hospital for 12 days in March this year.
Paul will shortly be undertaking significant surgery to reduce the number of tumours in his body at Chris O Brien Life House Centre with surgeon Dr Nabila Ansari. This surgery whilst not curative it is very technical and advance surgery. Likely requiring Paul to be in hospital an number of weeks with significant time recovering at home.
The lead up, surgery and post surgery will incur specialist bills for consultation including but not limited to surgeons, oncologists, anaesthetists, endocrinologists and additional medication that will have significant out of pocket expenses including hospital copay and gaps.
Fighting cancer is expensive and on going.
Pauls wife Lisa has significantly had her work life curtailed in attending hospitals, medical appointments, scans and caring for Paul.
Paul’s daughters are still studying at school and University
