Help Paul Overcome Transverse Myelitis
Donation protected
Hi everyone,
There has been an outpouring of love and concern for our dear friend, Paul Cardenas. So many have asked how they can help. For those that might not be aware, Paul was diagnosed with transverse myelitis, a rare neurological condition that causes inflammation of the spinal cord. This condition has had a sudden and significant impact on his mobility and daily functioning.
Paul has been in the hospital for about a week now and will soon be admitted to an inpatient rehabilitation where he will undergo intensive physical and occupational therapy for 2-4 weeks, depending on his progress. After inpatient care, he will continue recovery through outpatient therapy, a process that can take months—or even longer—depending on how his body responds to treatment.
This journey will be long and uncertain, but we are hopeful. Transverse myelitis can affect people differently, and while some regain much of their function, the process is often physically, emotionally, and financially draining.
With Paul being the primary caregiver and sole breadwinner, the family could use additional support for things like:
• Medical expenses
• Transportation and accessibility needs (wheelchair, modifications, etc.)
• Day-to-day living expenses
We’ve created this GoFundMe to ease some of the financial burdens and allow the family to focus on what’s most important: healing, recovery, and supporting each other.
Any contribution—no matter the amount—makes a difference. If you’re unable to give financially, sharing this page with your network is also a huge help.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your love, prayers, and support. We will keep everyone updated on Paul’s progress as we navigate this journey together.
