Help Paul Mathews Through His Stroke Recovery
Donation protected
I'm not too sure how to start this off so I'll jump right into it;
Hello, my name is Callie Deschouwer and my boyfriends name is Christian Mathews.
At the beginning of December, Christians father, Paul Mathews suffered from an intense left side stroke, that in essence, destroyed the left side of Pauls brain. Paul no longer has any function in the right side of his body, he has aphasia and can no longer communicate via speech, and is also no longer able to eat solid foods.
Since the stroke Paul has been in and out of various hospitals as doctors try to determine what his new normal would be, without the ability to walk or talk Paul unfortunately can never return to the life he knew before, so he is in desperate need of an assisted living care facility.
The problem starts there. Unfortunately, before Pauls stroke he was struggling significantly with his basic living expenses, family and friends were able to pitch in and keep him afloat, but he was in a financial hole. He had some benefits, but was unemployed. While Paul was hospitalized, someone had gained access to his account, and started draining money from it. This issue is currently ongoing as we are unable to gain access to Pauls account due to locks put in place, as a result of unpaid fees.
Our next problem is that we are unfortunately not very financially stable ourselves, with most of our income going towards bills, we can't free up any money to help Paul. We need access to Pauls banking in order to start the process of finding a new home, but haven't the ability to clear his existing debts and fees. On top of that, we need to be able to supply him with new clothes, medications, etc, all of which is currently impossible for us to handle. We are graciously asking for any donations to be able to help Paul get the care he needs, and to hopefully find him a new care home.
I will update when we learn any new information but for now we are setting the goal of $10,000.
I've known Paul for going on 12 years now and he cares so much about family and friends, we just want to be there as much as we can for him.
Thank you for taking the time to read/donate/share, it means the world to us.
