UPDATE - Feb 2022
Since beating colorectal cancer after his surgery in May 2021, we found out in December that my dad's cancer has spread to his lungs. He had a wedge resection surgery on his right lung right before Christmas, and has been recovering until now, with surgery for his left lung on February 22nd, and then awaiting possible chemo and radiation treatment.
The major surgery he had prior to that in May was a huge recovery, but he was able to start working again here and there in the summer and fall (he is self-employed).
I am reposting the GoFundMe I created last year with hopes to raise some more money for my dad while he is going through this next part of his journey. We are still awaiting a response from government aid programs, and his savings are running low, and he needs to cover the cost of rent, bills food, dog food, etc.
Anything at all helps. Thank you so much.

I put this fundraiser together for my Dad who is currently undergoing chemotherapy for stage 3 colorectal cancer and awaiting major surgery in the next 3 months or so.
Since April when he was diagnosed, he has been unable to work due to the toll of his treatment and his compromised immune system from the chemo. Though much of his treatment is covered by the provincial government, he has been struggling to pay for his rent, phone bill, groceries, dog food for his pup/best friend Lukka, and car insurance. The majority of his CRB cheque (which was recently cut by around $200/month) is going towards rent, leaving barely enough to cover most of his bills. Since my dad was a self-employed contract worker prior to the pandemic, he doesn't qualify for EI or have health benefits. We are hoping to find him a more affordable place to live near the hospital, but are also hesitant due to the physical and mental strain of moving in his condition.
Right now anything at all helps. I do my best to help him with groceries/dog food and rides to and from the hospital, but having faced a pay cut myself in September, things are tight. All donations will go towards bills and medical expenses and hopefully with a few dollars in the bank he can start to build up a savings account again.
