This Go Fund Me is to raise funds for Paul (11 years old) to receive the specialized care deemed medically necessary by his doctors a that his insurance won’t cover and is not available locally in Hawaii. Paul has several diagnoses that impact his daily life; Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS), Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS), gastroparesis, and a heart rhythm condition. These aren’t just diagnoses on paper—they affect every part of his daily life.
He should be worrying about school, playing with friends, and just being a kid. Instead, he is battling a complex combination of serious medical conditions.
Paul’s medical team recently identified a specific, specialized path of care that is medically necessary for his health and long-term recovery.
Unfortunately, Paul’s family has hit a significant hurdle: their insurance has continuously declined to cover these essential treatments and EDS specific clinics that are only available outside of Hawaii. They have exhausted all the available treatments in Hawaii and Paul’s current doctors and care team in Hawaii have stated they can no longer treat him at the level he requires.
Navigating the healthcare system can be an uphill battle. While we are doing everything we can to advocate for Paul, his needs can no longer wait for paperwork and appeals. Every day counts in his recovery, and we want to ensure he gets the care his doctors recommend without further delay.
How You Can Help:
Prayer! Please pray for Paul, his family, and all of those involved in his care. We believe in the power of prayer and that he will be healed in Jesus’ name.
We are raising funds the bridge the gap left by insurance. These funds will go directly toward:
Travel to and from the mainland for specialized medical care
Out-of-state consultations and testing
Out-of-pocket medical expenses not covered by insurance
Potential extended stays for treatment
If you’re able to donate, share, or support in any way, it means more than we can put into words. And if you can’t give financially, simply sharing his story helps us get one step closer to the care he needs.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for being part of this fight with us.
