Help Paul get a prosthetic hand

As many of you know, my father, Paul, suffered a terrible infection that caused him to lose his dominant hand entirely. He was having back spasms so severe the pain caused him to black out, resulting in a fall that broke his wrist. Local hand specialists failed to diagnose compartment syndrome. They ignored the severity of the break even after multiple visits leading to a life-threatening situation where the only option was to amputate his hand in an attempt to save his life and stop the infection. By the grace of god, the tremendous support of family and friends and the incredible doctors at the MUSC Health University Medical Center in Charleston, the surgery was a success and we are blessed enough to continue creating memories together. The nature of this surgery was completely unexpected and has turned our family's life upside down overnight. As of today, the hospital expenses alone have surpassed $600,000 and continue to increase from the post-operation care as we attempt to get back any sense of normality. The cost of a prosthetic hand will be just north of $120,000 as well and is not covered by insurance. My father is in good spirits and is doing his best to overcome the day-to-day challenges of recovery. Although he is one of the last people to ask for help, we ask as a family that, if possible, our friends, family and loved ones can come together to help support him in the journey he has ahead.
One day at a time, we will tackle this road together. We thank you for the outpouring of support and love we have continued to receive and thank each and every one of you from the bottom of our hearts. If and when we are able to get back in better standing, we promise to pay it forward and do the best we can to assist others during their difficult times as well.
