Our friend Paul Faber, Mabel’s Club owner, popular Karaoke KJ, and Rock ‘n Roll Historian, has fallen on hard times financially, and needs your help in paying his property taxes before he loses his home. Paul has barely been able to pay his utility bills due to his meager Social Security income. He also has been unable to pay his property taxes for his home during the last two years on Broadway Avenue in Urbana, IL.

Very soon there is a three-year deadline – loss of home due to unpaid property taxes!

Paul felt depressed when his father died in 2011 and he needed

help from his family. His inheritance was the family home and one other property, which was sold.

He invested this money into a real estate venture suggested by family members, which turned out to be a total loss to him. He has been struggling to make ends meet ever since.

A few years ago, while in his mid-70s, Paul was critically injured when a criminal

violently battered his face and head while in his home and caused Paul to need brain surgery.

Since his injuries, Paul has tried to work as a KJ, but Karaoke gig opportunities have been scarce.

A Decatur realtor company won the Champaign County delinquent property tax auction bid on Paul’s Broadway Ave. property in Urbana and has been paying Paul’s property taxes for the last two years and soon, in April of 2026, the three-year deadline occurs.

Paul will need $6,000 in total, the 3-year tax amount, to pay Champaign County by April 2026 or he will lose the Broadway

Avenue house that he lives in.
