Paul Day Clemens is an actor, writer, artist, and most importantly, friend. Just 4 years after his last car was totaled in a terrible accident, the engine on his replacement car went out. Now, Paul needs our help to get another car, so he can return to work. He also needs help paying for necessary dental care that isn't fully covered by insurance.

To know Paul is to love him. I (Karin Willison) have been one of Paul’s closest friends for almost 30 years, and he is one of the kindest, most generous people you’ll ever meet. He is always there with a listening ear and a fascinating story to cheer you up. He is devoted to his girlfriend, who has a debilitating chronic illness, and the two of them help care for an elderly friend who was recently hospitalized. Paul is always helping others, regardless of his own struggles with clinical depression and surviving the high cost of living in Los Angeles.

You may know Paul from such films as "The Beast Within," where he transformed into a cicada monster, and "The Horribly Slow Murderer with the Extremely Inefficient Weapon" series on YouTube. He starred in the Emmy-nominated CBS film "A Death In Canaan," and guest starred as a young man with Tourette's syndrome in an award-winning episode of "Quincy, M.E."

Paul co-wrote the one-man play "Edgar Allan Poe: Once Upon a Midnight," and created the role of Poe in the premiere production which had an acclaimed 4-month run in Hollywood. The play subsequently toured for 10 years with John Astin in the title role. As a renowned Poe scholar, Paul has appeared in documentaries about Poe including A&E Biography, and was instrumental in developing the PBS production of "Edgar Allan Poe -- Buried Alive" with Dennis O'Hare and Kathleen Turner.

Paul also sculpts, paints, and appears at genre film conventions all over the country.

As we all know, the entertainment industry doesn't always provide steady employment, especially for older actors, so Paul works as a delivery driver. He needs his car to survive, and so does his girlfriend, who can't drive for health reasons and relies on Paul to drive her to medical appointments. But in August 2026, the engine on his vehicle -- purchased just 4 years ago, after his last car was totaled in a T-bone crash -- went out and can't be repaired. He lives paycheck to paycheck and had no way to save for such an emergency, especially so soon after the loss of his previous vehicle.

Right now, he is using a rental car, but his car insurance won't allow him to work as a delivery driver with a rental. Until he can buy another car, he has no income other than Social Security. He is also in need of major dental work that is only partially covered by Medicare.

Funds will be used as follows:

$8,000 to buy a reliable used car to use for deliveries
$4000 for dental work

Any additional money raised will assist with future car maintenance and bills that are piling up since he can’t work right now.
