Help Paul Brodie rebuild his workshop
Donation protected

On Apr. 29, 2021, at the residence and business of Paul Brodie, a fire broke out at 3 a.m. on his property. It was on that day that Paul Brodie tragically lost his business, his workshop, his tools, and his livelihood. For more than 45 years Paul has devoted his life to helping individuals with home renovation projects, specializing in quality, hand-crafted cabinetry. In 1986 Paul decide to share his skills and experiences with aspiring woodworkers and began to offer carpentry classes to help each student hone their abilities.
Since Paul was a young boy, he’s always loved the smell of fresh sawdust and working with wood, drafting, and designing – so you can imagine the heartfelt devastation when he saw that he had nothing left, not even a hammer.
Those that know Paul, know he is hard working, dedicated, and meticulous when it comes to designing and building work for his customers. He would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it, along with the shirt would also come a joke to make you laugh to help you see the lighter side of things.
Many of us know others who have worked at something with the same level of passion and purpose, dedicating their life to earn their wage - one nail at a time. It is from that place that I ask that you join me in raising funds toward the rebuilding of his shop and purchase of necessary tools and equipment. To give you an approximate number of the financial damage – it is estimated over 75K worth of equipment and tools was on the premises and the cost of rebuilding the shop is estimated at 170K. Due to the location of Paul's property to the nearest Fire Department and the nature of the work taking place in the shop i.e. dealing with wood, Paul's shop was deemed too high of a risk to insure from insurance companies.
You know what they say, “you can’t teach an old dog new tricks” and while Paul is chuckling at me calling him an old dog, there’s something to be said about starting over and rebuilding something that took 45 years to make.
Paul your friends are here for you and so too are your students and lengthy list of satisfied customers. We know this fundraising goal will not cover all of the losses you’ve incurred but we sure hope this will help an old dog smile.
Thanks for helping!
