Hi my name is Declan, and i have set this fundraiser up in order to help our friend paul in his battle against brain cancer.
Paul is one of our own, a loving husband to Donna and father to his 3 little girls, an avid cyclist and member of Armagh Down cycling club. He loves being out on the roads getting big miles in and pushing himself and the rest of the lads to their limits. He has completed some of the hardest sportives and cycles this island has to offer including the wicklow 200 and the ring of kerry. In 2024 he completed the dragon ride in Wales 298km and over 4500 meters of climbing, and if that wasnt enough the following year he and his good pal gareth then tackled the Mallorca 312, 312km in one day with 4700 meters of climbing. Paul and Gareth then returned this year for another crack at Mallorca and both completed it in 10 hours, an amazing achievement.
But when Paul returned home only a few days later he collpased one evening and was rushed to hospital, where doctors then discovered a mass on Pauls brain on 1st May 2026.
On the 14th May then Paul was diagnosed with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer.
Paul is currently undergoing a course of radiation therapy and chemotherapy at Belfast City Hospital, with treatment continuing until the end of July.
Paul has been accepted under the care of Professor Gansange in Berg, Germany, where he is scheduled to begin dendritic cell therapy on 12 August 2026.
Dendritic cell therapy is a personalised form of immunotherapy that uses the body’s own immune cells to help recognise and attack cancer cells. The treatment is designed to stimulate the immune system to identify and target the tumour more effectively.
The overall cost of Paul's treatment, expenses and aftercare is going to run well over £100k.
So we ask everyone and anyone if you can spare even just a little to help our good friend Paul get to Germany so he can beat Cancer.
