My name is Abigail, and I’m reaching out on behalf of my father, Paul Barner. Just over a month ago, our family received the devastating news that my dad has Stage IV prostate cancer. We were still coming to terms with his diagnosis when, only a few days ago, he suffered a heart attack shortly after arriving in the Philippines. He was immediately admitted to the hospital, where he is currently in the ICU and intubated, fighting for his life every day.

Because there is no insurance coverage in the Philippines, every aspect of his care, from daily ICU stays to potential invasive heart surgeries, must be paid for out of pocket. The mounting hospital bills are overwhelming, and our family is doing everything we can to make sure my dad gets the care he needs. It’s a situation we never imagined we’d face, and we are reaching out for help from our community and beyond.
