This campaign is an effort to help our dear friends, Layne and Paul Cutright, through an emergency. They were in a serious accident that will cause significant financial hardship: Layne's lung collapsed, and her dominant hand was broken. Paul cracked a rib. Both will need to remain practically immobile while they recuperate and heal these injuries as well as the bruises and cuts they sustained in the wreck. Obviously, they will be unable to work, and since they are small business owners, this means they will not have income. Their car is totaled, and they will need to deal with some hefty medical bills. Let's help them through this difficult time! Any amount will be gratefully accepted, and please be generous.

From Paul on July 14, 2018 on Facebook (emphasis added):

Layne and I were in a bad car accident yesterday afternoon. Layne is in the hospital with a broken hand and collapsed lung. She'll probably be there for another day or two. We were hit broadside by a speeding pickup truck, striking Layne's side of the car. The car was totaled. I'm ok, just a few cuts and bruises and probably a cracked rib. Processing the event. It could have been much, much worse.

We are grateful to be alive. Now it's my turn to look after Layne when she gets home. Your love and prayers are appreciated.

I don't normally, maybe ever, post items like this. And I have seen the outpouring of love, light and prayers when people have shared their own trials. But I felt compelled to do it this time. I know it will be a great comfort to Layne when she gets home and can read all the loving things that you all have written. <3 <3

Then on July 15, he posted a follow up:

Quick update . . . (well maybe not so quick)

First, I am so incredibly moved by all the love and healing energy everyone is sending! It is felt. Thank you, thank you, thank you! <3 <3

I was with Layne for a little while at the hospital today. I took her a pint of mint chip ice cream that she requested. Of course, we both had to eat if before it all melted! She is doing well recovering. They are treating her collapsed lung and she has a cast on her hand and wrist. Mostly she is sleeping with the pain meds they are giving her.

I have more info on the circumstances of the collision. Briefly, just as it was about to happen I saw this new, large pickup in the air to my right out of the upper part of the windshield. Before I could even register that it didn't belong there, we were hit.

We were between streets, so there was no intersection. The truck came out of a Jiffy Lube and car wash. Between those buildings and the street there about a 30 degree incline of grass and trees rising to the boulevard we were on.

I'm not sure yet, but it seems the driver lost control of the truck and accelerated towards the incline, picking up speed and launching the vehicle into traffic. Right where we were traveling at that very moment.

It landed in a downward motion right into Layne's door. The door was crushed along with the "pillar" (between the front and rear doors) and the roof was also bent on that side.

I was probably going about 40 - 50 miles an hour. Our car spun around facing where we had just come from. The truck twisted around, flying backwards across the street.

It is truly a miracle neither of us was killed, especially Layne.
I have spoken with the driver, a Mexican man. He has expressed concern about "mama", meaning Layne.

There is more to share about this drama which I can do if anyone is interested. For now, my body is starting to ache all over from the impact of the collision. And I must sleep. <3 <3
