Running a marathon to fund Ugandans' A levels
Donation protected
Paul and Collins have completed their first year at college with good grades. This was funded entirely through your donations – thank you. They have just started their second and final year. The total cost for this year comes to £1200. We have a headstart on this, thanks to a generous donation of £200 from Lancaster Rotary Club.
To help raise this money, I will take part in the Cambridge Boundary Run on 12 March 2023. This covers a distance of 26 miles (42km) and will be my first marathon. If training goes to plan, I hope to get a time under 3h 20m.
Paul and Collins come from poor families in rural Uganda. In the UK, anyone can take A-levels for free. In Uganda the fees are extortionate and cannot be afforded by the majority of families. This money will allow Paul and Collins to get a good quality education, find stable jobs, and support their families. Anything you can give is appreciated!

In the Summer of 2019, I, along with 35 other scouts, worked alongside local builders in Uganda to build a chicken farm. Two of those builders, Paul and Collins, were working on the site to help fund their schooling.
Having since done well in his GCSE exams, Paul secured a place at Munta Royal College – one of the most prestigious in Uganda – to complete A-levels in entrepreneurship, physics and maths. He hopes to become an engineer.
Collins also got good GCSEs and is now studying English and geography at Buyambi St Johns in Mityana. He plans on going into journalism.
The total fees for the second year are £630 each. This includes boarding fees and the costs of necessary textbooks, equipment and uniform.
Paul and Collins are intelligent and hard-working – they are appreciative of all the help given so far, and are making the most of this opportunity. Any donations are welcome – thank you.
